How are “Revenue” and “Throughput” measured for the free tier?

If your company makes over $5,000,000 USD in gross annual revenue, or your production applications serialize or deserialize more than 10 TB of .nxb payloads across your network lanes in a single calendar month, your standard BSL 1.1 allowance expires. You must step into a paid commercial agreement.

Because Nyxis relies on constant-time pointer casting instead of full-file heap parsing, scaling past 10 TB/month does not inflate browser or worker memory the way repeated JSON.parse() pipelines do. See the V8 allocation parity matrix on the use-cases page for the technical breakdown.

How do I choose between Startup, Enterprise Core, and Principal?

After you exceed the free BSL gates, pick the paid package that matches both your revenue band and monthly throughput: Startup / Growth when you are under $10M revenue and under 1 TB/month; Enterprise Core when you are in the $10M–$100M revenue band or processing 1–50 TB/month; Principal when revenue exceeds $100M or throughput exceeds 50 TB/month.

Are our client applications bound by the BSL license?

No. All client-side readers and writers (nyxis-drivers) are licensed under the ultra-permissive MIT license. You can embed them in edge applications, mobile devices, IoT hardware, or client browsers with absolutely zero copyleft or compliance friction. Only the core compilation engine and private performance daemons require a commercial seat.

Which tier do I need if I only exceed one BSL gate?

Either gate triggers the need for a commercial license. You must comply with both the revenue cap and the monthly throughput cap to remain on the free tier. Crossing either threshold moves you into Startup / Growth or higher, depending on your revenue and monthly data volume.
